Peter Treherne is an artist using text, performance, sound and moving image to explore the effects of the environment, particularly weather, on agriculture and creative labour. His artwork has been exhibited at galleries and festivals including the Institute of Contemporary Arts London, Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin and Festival ECRA, has been funded by the Arts Council of England, and is distributed by the Canadian Filmmakers Distribution Centre and Kinoscope.

He is currently working on a co-creative project, Matter of Britain, with the community of Mayfield, East Sussex. The work explores the impact of the climate crisis through recordings of daily work across the four seasons and community performances of the medieval Waste Land mythology.

Peter was also a founder and director of the Slow Film Festival, an organisation dedicated to sharing moving image art with rural audiences. As director, he collaborated with the British Council and MUBI to exhibit work from artists including James Benning, Ben Rivers, Babette Mangolte, Jessica Sarah Rinland and Kevin Jerome Everson. He remains a trustee of the organisation.
